Poi Che Volse La Mia Stella - This piece is taken from Dalza’s Intabulatora de Lauto Libro Quarto, based on a song by Bartolomeo Tromboncino and published by Petrucci in Venice (1508). Grade 5
The Most Sacred Queen Elizabeth, Her Galliard Many versions of this piece for guitar use the standard guitar scordatura. This version uses the lute scordatura (transposed) with the 3rd string in F sharp, thus giving a sonority more like the original. Perhaps harder to read but I think worth it. Grade 7
Walsingham - Dowland’s arrangement of a popular ballad. Not to be confused with ‘As I went to Walsingham’ by Francis Cutting - which is much shorter and much easier! Grade 8
Stringwizard Berceuse, Tanz, Lament, The Flight of the Bouncing Bee, Falcon Soaring, Cider Dance, Vals, Night Train - played by me so imagine how nice these could sound! Grades: Initial - 2
La Bernadina I have here used a three part score of Josquin’s original but also used solo lute versions created by Francesco Spinacino (c.1507) and Hans Neusidler (c.1508 - 1563) Grade 5
